Police recover stolen BMW by tracking device
A security tracking device has helped a vehicle owner avoid a claim on his BMW car insurance after the electronic homing device was used to locate and recover his car when it was stolen.
The motorist from Buckinghamshire had parked the BMW 645 C1 on his driveway when thieves burgled his house and stole the car keys.
The car was missing for a fortnight before he was fortunate to discover that a device called Tracker had been fitted by a previous owner.
He called the Tracker service to activate the device and immediately the car was pinpointed to a location at Wembley in London.
The police found the vehicle within three hours. Subsequently, Tracker staff collected the BMW and delivered it back to the owner's home.
Installing Tracker can reduce the cost of insurance for car drivers because the service is effective at aiding recovery of stolen vehicles.
Without the tracking device, it was unlikely the car would have been traced and the owner would have been forced to claim on his BMW car insurance.
