Churchill named as UK car insurance firm with best claims handling

Consumer Intelligence has named Churchill as the UK car insurance company with the best customer service.

In a poll of more than 2,400 motorists who had claimed on their motor insurance policy in the 2006/2007 year, Consumer Intelligence got the best feedback from those who had claimed through Churchill.

Participants in the research rated their UK car insurance provider for elements such as how easy it was to make a claim, how much information was made available to them, how quickly the claim was resolved and how friendly and sympathetic the staff were.

Churchill was the cheap car insurance company with the best rating and was followed by Co-operative Insurance (CIS), esure, Fortis and Frizzel.

A spokesperson for Consumer Intelligence said: "The winners are companies that have made a positive effort to handle car insurance claims in a sympathetic manner at a time of great stress to the consumer."
