Safer driving video game project to help over-50s

A pilot research project has been launched in the USA that is set to lead to cuts in car insurance rates for motorists aged over 50 who achieve high scores playing computer video games.

A range of scientifically-accredited, brain fitness games are being tested that, it is claimed, can improve the quantity and quality of the visual information processed by players.

Early trials have shown that the software from Posit Science can increase driver safety by significant margins with numbers of crashes already shown to be cut by half and dangerous driving manoeuvres reduced by up to 40%.
