Volkswagen celebrates record sales figures

Volkswagen is celebrating having sold 2.11 million Phaetons, Polos, Golfs and other models between January and July 2007.

The German manufacturer has seen worldwide sales rise 7.9% compared to the same period in 2006, and this increase seems to show no signs of abating.

July 2007 was the best July Volkswagen has seen, with 310,000 cars being driven off the forecourt to a life spent on roads around the world.

Brazil, Argentina and China were three of the locations with the highest sales rises, with Brazil doing particularly well by increasing their figures by almost a third (30.6%).

A spokesperson for Volkswagen commented: "We have never sold so many Volkswagen vehicles in this period before. We look forward with confidence to the months ahead."
