Drivers from Surrey and Sussex warned of weather risk to motor insurance quotes
Each year, millions of drivers risk their cheap motor insurance quotes because they aren't prepared for the poor weather conditions we see in the winter. In the light of recent heavy rain and winds, the Highways Agency has issued a specific warning to motorists in the Surrey and Sussex area.
The Highways Agency has been working with the Met Office in order to provide the best possible service to drivers, such as putting down salt when cold weather is predicted and being prepared in advance to handle extreme weather conditions.
Drivers are advised to check weather forecasts and travel bulletins on the TV, internet or radio before they set off in bad conditions. This way, many accidents that are caused by the weather could be avoided, as could the resulting claims on cheap car insurance policies.
Martin Wright, Sussex area manager of the Highways Agency, said: "The Highways Agency is on stand-by to keep roads free of ice and snow but we also ask drivers to be aware of fog, heavy rain and strong winds which are as much a part of the British winter and they can make driving hazardous too."
Corrine Aldous, of duck2water Car Insurance Services, said: "We see many winter weather-related car insurance claims where people have ventured out into horrible driving conditions unnecessarily.
"We recommend avoiding all journeys when the weather is bad as your chances of having an accident are so much higher.
"Stay in - don't risk your cheap motor insurance quotes this winter," she advised.
