Worcester residents face costliest motor insurance quotes

Worcester drivers have to pay the most for motor insurance quotes, according to new statistics.

However, UK motorists from Worcester need not be worried since the drivers affected are from Worcester, Massachusetts, in the US.

The Massachusetts Automobile Insurers Bureau found that drivers from Worcester were getting motor insurance quotes for more than $300 above the state average.

A spokesperson for the Insurance Information Institute revealed some of the factors which may be behind the lack of cheap car insurance for Worcester residents.

He said: "In urban areas where you have a lot of traffic and congestion, the typical auto insurance policy holder is going to pay more than somebody who is driving to and from work in a very rural part of the state."

However, it isn't all bad news for Worcester drivers wanting cheap motor insurance quotes. According to the Insurance Information Institute, the cost of car insurance for these residents has gone down by $200 in the last year.

He commented: "The reason is, there are fewer accidents. And a lot of states have gotten aggressive in fighting auto fraud.

"Plus, cars are safer. People are getting into accidents, but their medical bills are not as high because of front and side air bags. That's why we have a very competitive marketplace."
