Online car insurance comparison site issues inflation caution

Drivers should shop around for their motor insurance every time it comes up for renewal because of inflation, according to an online car insurance comparison site.

Moneysupermarket.com is advising drivers who want to get the best deal on their motor insurance cover to check that their current car insurance policy is the cheapest on the market.

A spokesperson for the online car insurance site said: "With inflation rising, motorists should keep a keen eye on their premiums when it comes to policy renewal as it will be interesting to see whether insurers can continue to keep their pricing this low, especially when you consider some providers give what practically amounts to a loss-leading discount to entice motorists in the first place."

Corrine Aldous, of the cheap car insurance company duck2water Car Insurance Services, said: "We certainly echo Moneysupermarket.com's advice on searching around for the best motor insurance quote before accepting a renewal.

"With an average rise in car insurance premiums over the past year, drivers may well see an upward trend in how much they are paying for their cover and it is clearly beneficial to limit this rise."
