Online car insurance advice site offers savings tips
An online car insurance and financial services advice site is giving drivers clues on how to cut their motor insurance quotes.
ThisIsMoney.co.uk, which provides information on everything from investments and mortgages to banking and car insurance, is giving motorists a number of ways to reduce the cost of their cover.
One such way is to cut the number of miles that they drive each year. Annual mileage will affect the cost of motor insurance quotes and drivers who just use their cars at the weekend, for example, are likely to receive cheaper cover.
Using car sharing schemes is one way in which this can become practical, as motorists who all drive the same route to work can meet up and just take one car instead of several.
ThisIsMoney.co.uk reveals that a substantial cut in mileage of around 50% could mean savings of an average of £43 for motorists.
The online car insurance advice site also recommends increasing the voluntary excess on a policy as a way of cutting the cost of quotes, as well as adding an older driver to a young driver's car insurance policy, which can result in cheaper premiums.
