Insurers starting to ignore speeding convictions, online car insurance site says
The online car insurance comparison website Gocompare.com has suggested that some insurers may start ignoring convictions for speeding.
According to the motor insurance site, the increasing numbers of speed cameras is producing a situation where large number of drivers have marred licenses.
So many, in fact, that some car insurance companies are questioning whether a conviction for speeding is actually indicative of a greater risk.
A spokesperson for the online car insurance site said: "Several of the top insurers now ignore the first speeding fine and the first three penalty points when calculating a quote.
"For one leading insurer, even a second speeding fine and a further three points results in only a small increase in premiums."
She went on to advise motorists to avoid getting a conviction for speeding by leaving plenty of time for car journeys and keep a careful eye out for speed limit changes.
