Online car insurance software grows in popularity

Imarket software used by brokers in online car insurance transactions is being used more and more, according to creator Polaris.

Polaris has revealed that the number of monthly transactions has rose from 25,000 to 45,000 between April 2006 and April 2007, thanks largely to the integration of a number of software houses.

The number of motor insurance brokers using the system has also increased substantially, which may also be playing a part in the increased transaction figures.

A spokesperson for Polaris said: "One thing that pushes [the number of transactions] up the most is insurer products, and where you get the most direct correlation is with software house integration.

"As a software house goes live with integration you see a ramping up in the number of transactions made via Imarket."

The future looks positive for the system, with plans to add and refine product lines and improve the ease of purchasing online car insurance.

The Polaris spokesperson continued: "I think Imarket in the last year has got to a position where it is beyond the point of no return. The history of general insurance is littered with IT initiatives that haven't made it for various reasons but I feel confident that Imarket is beyond that point."
