Car insurance for Vauxhall
Vauxhall owners' clubs revealed
To some people a car is so much more than just a lump of metal. It's not just a thing to get you from A to B and it doesn't just keep you dry in the rain. To some people a car is almost a family member, a thing to love and to cherish and to treat with care and respect.
That's why many drivers give their cars names and that's why so many vehicle owners are out covered in water, soap and wax on a Sunday morning.
And that's also why car clubs are more popular today than ever before. There are thousands upon thousands of people in the UK who are signed up members of car appreciation groups, modding clubs, vintage vehicle societies and internet discussion forums. Not surprisingly, right at the centre of it all is Vauxhall.
So many people have parted with their hard earned cash and bought a Vauxhall, only to fall under its magical spell that they've felt compelled to share their newfound enthusiasm with others.
And if this is you there's no shortage of organisations to turn to because Vauxhall owners and Vauxhall lovers from all walks of life have a whole host of options to look at if they want to get involved with those who share the same fascination.
Vauxhall Owners Club 1903-1957
If old cars are your thing, the Vauxhall Owners Club 1903-1957 could be just what you're looking for. With members all over the world, it's for enthusiasts of cars ranging from Vauxhall's first five horsepower model through to the E-Type Velox, Cresta and Wyvern designs that were produced up until 1957.
The club has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and now boasts more than 400 members, all hugely passionate about the Vauxhalls of yesteryear. Its intentions are to promote an interest in the history, preservation and use of these old cars and also to give enthusiasts the chance to discuss their passion with likeminded people.
Every month each member receives a copy of Flute News, the club's popular magazine, and an exclusive library service is also available to provide workshop manuals to those who are restoring their old Vauxhalls.
To find out more about this popular club, take a look at the Vauxhall Owners Club 1903 - 1957.
Vauxhall Sports Car Club
If speedier cars are your thing, the Vauxhall Sports Car Club could be right up your street. With official backing from the manufacturer, it caters for those who just can't get enough of Vauxhall's sporty range and has members all over the UK.
The advantages of being supported by Vauxhall are obvious and means that the club is able to offer discounts on parts and servicing as well as cheap car insurance. This proves to be hugely popular among the owners of modified cars, thousands of whom are registered with the Vauxhall Sports Car Club.
So popular is the club, in fact, that regional branches have been set up to enable members to get together regularly to show off their cars and swap advice. Everyone also gets a bi-monthly magazine and, just five years old, the club is going from strength to strength.
If you've got a Nova SR, an Astra GSI or even a VX220, check out the Vauxhall Sports Car Club on their official website at www.vauxhallsportscarclub.co.uk.
Autobahnstormers
A bit more specialised, but still with a membership totalling almost a thousand, is the Autobahnstormers group.
This club was set up to cater for owners of Vauxhalls (and German equivalent Opels) with six or more cylinders such as the Royale, Senator, Carlton and Monaro, and has proved enormously popular with enthusiasts.
Not only do members get a quarterly magazine entitled Straight Six News but they also get access to discounted car insurance and cheap Vauxhall spares. Some members' knowledge of six cylinder Vauxhalls is truly amazing and the 30 or so car shows that the club attends every year enable everyone to get together and chat about their favourite subject.
The Autobahnerstormers website also boasts an impressive discussion forum so why not have a look by logging onto www.autobahnstormers.co.uk.
